The idea for 3on3 for Niebs was born in 2011 by a group of friends of ours. At that time, our son Andy, was battling brain cancer. They rallied around our family to give us something to look forward to as we endured the trials of Andy’s cancer treatments. The on-going medical expenses were also adding up and the idea of a fundraiser was born.
Unfortunately, just a week before the fundraiser, Andy “Niebs” Niebler, lost his battle with brain cancer. At our family’s request, they carried on with the fundraiser and the community came out in full force ready to support us in our time of grief.
The event was such a success in 2011 that we decided to make the event an annual charity event. The Andy Niebler Foundation, Inc. was born in April 2012 and we are now funding critical cutting edge cancer research right here at Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee. We have been able to contribute over $100,000 since starting and could not have done it without the support of the community around us.
Thank you for helping us fight childhood cancer and bringing an awareness to this highly underfunded, devastating disease!
